What are those black streaks on your roof?
The biggest threat to your roof is a type of bacterial growth called Gloecapsa Magma. This growth clings to your roof, causing those all-too-common black stains. These stains can cause your roof to deteriorate, eating away at the limestone in your shingles. Over time, this can compromise the integrity of your roof and cause cracking. A new roof is expensive, and soft washing kills and removes these bacteria without harming your shingles.

What is soft wash? Why not use pressure wash for roofs?
Soft Washing and pressure washing typically use the same tools, but they differ in fundamental ways that make them appropriate for some tasks and not for others.

Soft washing is a process that involves spraying a detergent onto your home at a very low pressure. This detergent kills and removes dirt, bacteria, and other organic matter on your home, all while protecting the integrity of your surfaces by using a pressure similar to that of a garden hose. One of the benefits of soft washing is that is actually kills the organic matter on your home, rather than just removing it and spreading it around.

Pressure washing meanwhile, uses high pressure which can cause damage to shingles, weakening them as your roof’s protective surface. This can allow leaks and more bacteria, mold, and algae to invade the weakened shingles and can lead to costly roof repairs.
